Connection upgrade in the near future
« on: October 07, 2010, 06:13:51 PM »
Everyone,

Here at chhosting.org, we have been needing a connection upgrade for years.  This year, may be the year we upgrade.  I have been told that we may implement the upgrade before the end of this year 2010.  I will keep this thread up to date with any updates.

This is great news CH! Turbo will hopefully be able to perform at its maximum potential =D
I cant wait!

LOL!!! At least the Download quotas are getting better. Have you noticed that True unlimited plans or  TB plans (Not Telstra Bigpond, i mean quota) are becoming increasingly popular. If we only had the bandwidth to get the most out of them....

Correct me if I am Wrong:

On an ADSL 2+ plan: the theoretical maximum is:

24000 Kbit/s                       |  60x 60 = 3600s in an hour = 3600MB Per Hour
---------------  = 3000 KB/s  |  3600*24 = 86400Mb Per day
8                                |  86400 * 31 = 2,678,400 MB per 31 days (2.768TB Per month) <----This is the theoretical max which will never be accomplished due to external factors.

Therefore 1 TB plans are fesible however I have seen 3TB plans (Dodo for example) I just dont get it. Cable/ Fibre yeah but not ADSL.

I'm not so sure....Straider, we pay almost $500.00/mth for our T1 connection - it has guaranteed up/down bandwidth 24/7 barring any acts of God.  I am sure if you are willing to make that kind of investment, you will find many AUS options.

Aussies never got T1

We just had ADSL2+ and E1 (E1 never came about because the funds went into retirement housing)

What catagory does Verizon FioS fit into?

I think FioS is like 212+mbps download speed...

We are switching to broadband - moving away from the old copper lines - to improve reliability.  The dish antennae was installed yesterday and aligned with the tower.
The connection speed to the tower is a consistent 78Mbit/s.  This is our theoretical maximum supported connection rate for this antennae design.  Our actual purchased bandwidth is over twice our current T1.  The antennae cable work will be completed next week - we should be running the new connect by next weekend.

BTW, this dish is carrier grade - not residential - some heavy duty hardware here ppl.
